About Mrs. Barker
Mrs. Tasha Barker received her Associates of Arts degree from Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas and her Bachelors of Science in Political Science and History from the University of Texas at Tyler. Mrs. Barker earned her Masters in Education from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. Prior to her arrival in Lindale in 2007, she served as Director of Elementary Education for the Lake Travis ISD outside of Austin. Mrs. Barker began her education career in 1994. Being the wife of an active duty Army soldier resulted in many moves. Between 1994 to 2000, she taught social studies at Taft High School in San Antonio, Austin High School in El Paso and Ellison High School in Killeen.
After earning her masters degree and principal certification, Mrs. Barker joined the Austin Independent School District as an Assistant Principal at Travis High School in 2000. She remained with the Austin ISD through 2005, serving also as a district Social Studies Curriculum Specialist and later as the district Elementary Academic Supervisor.
