Lindale High School: Speech/Debate

Last Year We Climbed - This Year We FLY!!!!

Summer, 2010 has been very eventful for Lindale Speech/Debate.  We found out we won third in the nation and tenth in the world in the United Nations People Speaks Competition.  We attended Nationals in Kansas and had a wonderful trip.  Immediately upon our return I headed to Nashville for a photo shoot with one of our graduates - Miranda Lambert.  It was a great experience.  Then Randall Oliver, Savannah Williamson, Kelsey Wells and I headed to Mary Hardin Baylor and we heard Dr. Rich Edwards speak on this year's cx topic.  Several of our students attended debate camps this summer - Reece Bond and Anna Kate Pittman won awards at camp and Fate Richey and Emily Mee won debates and learned a great deal.  Michael Olsen, DeForest Gordy, Mark Bloeman and Cade Stripling all attended debates camps and I know will bring back some great materials for us.  August 5 we kick off CX debate training with an all day seminar in our classroom beginning at 9:00 am.  I have posted a tentative schedule for this year.  I am excited about our year.  Our theme is "Butterflies are Free"  Can't wait to explain the concept to all of you.  We have many new students coming into the program and many great students returning.  We have many of our graduates leaving for colleges throughout the states and we will miss them.  You have a heritage of service and teamwork.  That is a great heritage.  You have a great parent organization to back you and you have a school system that supports you.  We have a year of hard work, team work and growth and learning to fly ahead of us!!!!  Prepare to become what you are supposed to be and achieve your dreams.  I am excited about the flight.
